Referee allows continued strikes after slam knockout
At a Texas regional show on Jan. 18, 2026, Contender Series veteran Brandon Holmes faced undefeated prospect Preston LaGrange.
During a grappling exchange LaGrange reportedly secured a triangle, then Holmes lifted and slammed him, an impact that appeared to leave LaGrange unresponsive.
Referee Danielle Guevara did not immediately stop the fight, and Holmes landed about nine unanswered ground strikes before officials intervened, according to the broadcast.
Commentators and onlookers expressed disbelief at the delayed stoppage.
Holmes was awarded the win and is reportedly planning one or two more outings in 2026 as he pursues another shot at a UFC contract.
