Tsarukyan questions UFC 324 title fight
Arman Tsarukyan says he was bypassed for the interim lightweight title bout at UFC 324 between Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje, according to a January 20 interview with Demetrious Johnson.
The top-ranked 155-pound contender reportedly dismissed the matchup and indicated he prefers Gaethje over Pimblett.
He warned a Pimblett win could set back his own title plans and questioned whether Gaethje deserved the immediate opportunity, suggesting the pairing reflects promotional priorities.
Tsarukyan also noted he withdrew from a scheduled championship fight in January 2025 with a back issue and acknowledged matchmaking is often driven by business considerations.
He said he would accept a short-notice call at 155 pounds and has stayed active in grappling events while waiting for a new UFC booking.
