Gaethje backs Poirier amid Pimblett feud

At the UFC 324 pre-fight press conference Thursday, Justin Gaethje pushed back against Paddy Pimblett’s pre-fight trash talk and moved to defend Dustin Poirier.

Gaethje said he feeds off Pimblett’s provocations but objected to the Englishman disparaging fighters with longer track records, and reportedly vowed to "dog walk" Pimblett on fight night.

Pimblett, for his part, reiterated his critical take on Poirier’s most recent five-round loss to Max Holloway and said the feeling between him and Poirier is mutual.

Gaethje, who suffered a knockout loss to Holloway at UFC 300, suggested neither he nor Pimblett would fare well against the former champion.

With the lightweight title picture unsettled while Ilia Topuria deals with personal matters, Pimblett even raised the idea of a future fight with Holloway if he gets past Gaethje.

The exchange has reportedly intensified the build-up for the UFC 324 main event.
