Gaethje confronts Cormier over pay comments
Justin Gaethje confronted Daniel Cormier during Fight Week ahead of his UFC 324 main event with Paddy Pimblett, disputing Cormier’s remarks about fighter pay after the new TV rights deal.
Gaethje said he has not seen increased compensation and directly challenged Cormier in a short on-camera exchange that grew tense at times.
Cormier countered that he never claimed every fighter was getting more, and the back-and-forth was described as mostly good-natured by observers.
UFC CEO Dana White reportedly told media the promotion attempted to update Gaethje’s contract but that Gaethje’s camp did not respond.
The incident occurred during Media Day/Fight Week ahead of Saturday’s interim lightweight title fight.
