Gaethje wins interim title, lines up Topuria showdown

Justin Gaethje became the first fighter to win an interim UFC title twice after beating Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 on Jan. 25, 2026.

The victory reportedly positions him for a unification bout with reigning champion Ilia Topuria later this year.

Topuria had been scheduled to face Pimblett before withdrawing, which opened the door for Gaethje to step in as the replacement.

Both sides are said to be targeting a window between April and July, and Gaethje has pushed for a June date on the promotion's calendar.

Sources indicate the organization may follow the interim-to-unified path despite Arman Tsarukyan's standing in the division.

Final confirmation and exact dates are being discussed and are expected to be announced by the promotion.
