White defends ads during streaming debut
UFC president Dana White defended the volume of commercials that ran during the promotion's streaming debut at UFC 324, saying the broadcast format remains under refinement.
Fans reportedly complained that ads interrupted fighters' walkouts and cut into between-round corner audio.
The change follows a new $7.7 billion broadcast agreement that moved events from the traditional pay-per-view model to a subscription service.
White described the setup as a work in progress and suggested the lower subscription price makes additional ad spots necessary.
He also acknowledged the broadcast partner paid for the product and has influence over presentation, and officials say tweaks are being discussed ahead of the next event.
