Whittaker: Gaethje unlikely to beat Topuria

    Robert Whittaker warned that the Justin Gaethje who beat Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 would likely fall short against Ilia Topuria unless Gaethje alters his approach.

    Gaethje captured the interim lightweight belt in the five-round headliner at UFC 324 in late January.

    On his podcast, Whittaker reportedly highlighted Topuria's striking, timing and counterattacking as factors that would make the matchup difficult for Gaethje.

    Topuria is expected to return between April and June, and a title unification with Gaethje is being discussed.

    Topuria is also reportedly managing ongoing legal matters outside the sport.
