Lopes doubts Tsarukyan would get featherweight title shot

Diego Lopes said he doubts Arman Tsarukyan could immediately land a featherweight title opportunity after the lightweight contender reportedly raised the idea of dropping to 145 pounds.

Lopes is preparing to rematch Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 325 in Sydney this weekend and made the comments during media day events.

Tsarukyan, who was bypassed for a recent title fight at lightweight, has reportedly suggested he could make the lower weight if openings at 155 remain limited.

Lopes also acknowledged criticism aimed at him for receiving a second title shot within a year and implied fans will continue to question the promotion's matchmaking choices.
